Input boxes and MSIE

Another automatic cascading menu for Actinic 5 onwards. This one allows more modern DHTML effects.

Input boxes and MSIE

Post by peter d »

Dear Forum

I've installed Nor Cascade on an act v5 site I'm redeveloping at http://www.alphastate.co.uk/acatalog/ - all going well so far except that when ising MSIE 6.0 and the sub section nav panels fly out over an Input Field - as on http://www.alphastate.co.uk/acatalog/gr ... _turf.html the menu appears behind not over the input field.

Displays perfectly in Mozilla 1.6 (the only one I can check tonight).

Anybody had the same problem or is it something I've done?
Any help appreciated

It's not you. It's a well known "feature". The input widgets aren't truly part of the HTML page and they way they are implemented means that they are hard to control.

You'd probably see the same behavoiur with other embedded objects (like Flash, Java Applets, etc).

If you search the web you'll find plenty of articles about this.

It is possible to add some code to hide these fields while the menu is active but it may be more effort and complexity than it's worth. I'm sure there's something about this on the TwinHelix sites FAQ somewhere.

<5 minutes later - I RTFM myself>

In fact it's mentioned in the pop_help.html file that you should have got as part of the TwinHelix dowwnload. There's even a fix there.

We can blame Sir Bill for that.
